ADA4M - Dramatic Arts (University/College):

This course requires students to experiment individually and collaboratively with forms and conventions of both drama and theatre from various cultures and time periods. Students will interpret dramatic literature and other texts and media sources while learning about various theories of directing and acting. Students will examine the significance of dramatic arts in various cultures, and will analyse how the knowledge and skills developed in drama are related to their personal skills, social awareness, and goals beyond secondary school.

AMG4M - Music Guitar (University/College):

This course emphasizes the appreciation, analysis, and performance of music from the romantic period and from the twentieth century, including jazz, popular music, art music, and Canadian and non-Western music. Students will concentrate on developing interpretive skills and the ability to work independently. They will also complete complex creative projects.  PREREQUISITE: AMG3M - Music-Guitar or AMU3M - Music or AMG3O - Guitar Music

AMU4M - Music-Instrumental (University/College):

This course enables students to enhance their musical literacy through the creation, appreciation, analysis, and performance of music. Students will perform traditional, commercial, and art music, and will respond with insight to live and recorded performances. Students will enhance their understanding of the function of music in society and the impact of music on themselves and various communities and cultures. Students will analyse how to apply skills developed in music to their life and careers.  PREREQUISITE: AMU3M - Music

AMV4M - Music - Vocal/Choral (University/College):


This course emphasizes the appreciation, analysis and performance of music at an advanced level in different styles including jazz and classical from the romantic and twentieth century time periods. Advanced theoretical elements will be used for compositional and performance applications. Applications involving audio recording and sequencing will be involved using music computer workstations. Students will perform material on their instrument in solo and group situations appropriate to this level.  PREREQUISITE: AMV3M - Music-Vocal

AVI4M - Visual Arts (University/College):

This course focuses on enabling students to refine their use of the creative process when creating and presenting two- and three-dimensional art works using a variety of traditional and emerging media and technologies. Students will use the critical analysis process to deconstruct art works and explore connections between art and society. The studio program enables students to explore a range of materials, processes, and techniques that can be applied in their own art production. Students will also make connections between various works of art in personal, contemporary, historical, and cultural contexts.  PREREQUISITE: AVI3M - Visual Arts

AWD4M - Portfolio Preparation  (University/College):

The objective of this course is to prepare students for post-secondary studies in programs such as Fine Arts, Fashion Design, Interior Design, Photography, Animation, Graphic Design, Architectural Design etc. This course focuses on portfolio preparation. Students will pursue studio projects in the medium of their choice in order to produce a cohesive body of work. Students will apply the elements of art and principles of design throughout the creative process while building their portfolio.  PREREQUISITE: AVI3M - Visual Arts or AWI3O - Visual Arts-Fashion Design or AWQ3M - Photography

AWR4M - Film/Video (University/College):

This course is a further extension of AWR 3O. It continues to explore the history and genre of films by giving students the opportunities to examine various techniques used by past and present filmmakers. Students will develop analytical and interpretative skills through skills through research, large and small group projects, independent projects, written and oral presentation. Students will learn to respect and understand the history, cultural heritage and pluralism of today's contemporary society.  PREREQUISITE: AWR3O - Film/Video or ENG3U - English or ENG3C - English
