Diamonds were the best friends of Serena D’Amico this past summer.

The Grade 12 student at Saint Michael Catholic High School was a member of Team Ontario’s fast pitch team (softball) team that won a silver medal on the ball diamonds Aug. 10-15 at the Canada Summer Games in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador. She was also a member of Team Canada at the World Baseball Softball Confederation Under-18 Women’s Softball World Cup Sept. 27 to Oct. 3 in Oklahoma City.

The 17-year-old Niagara Falls resident pitched, played left field and was a designated hitter at the Canada Summer Games and was a designated hitter for Team Canada in Oklahoma City.
